Thoughts of Friendship

I have been questioned recently if I knew the meaning of friendship.. I thought I knew what it meant but was my view of friendship correct? It made me think…

I went through the internet to find the definition of friendship and I found the following:

"Friendship is the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring all right out just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful friendly hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping and, with a breath of comfort, blow the rest away."

I liked it even if it sounds very cheesy..

Then a couple of days later I had a discussion with one of my best friends and he compared friendship from one person to the other as a connection like a rope.. A rope is made of lots of strings that are twisted together. Each string represents a connection people have, like: same interests, love, sex, hate, dislike, history, future plans, hobbies and so forth.. Thus the thicker the rope, the stronger the connection, the profounder the friendship..

Then today a certain someone shared the following quote with me and this is how I'll finish my note as it is so simple and easy to understand.. Sometimes we just look too far for answers I guess..

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”
