The harm we cause to ourselves, because we are oblivious and naive, is nothing in comparison to the harm we knowingly do to ourselves. To have the choice to do or not to do, being fully aware of the consequences, and still choosing, risking to hurt ourselves is insane. Maybe the experience is needed to experience life in its deepest depth. Maybe we have to experience insanity to realise and appreciate sanity.
